Dreams & Divinities & The Society of the Imagination (AOI) are getting married!

banner AOI EUROPE marriage

Dear community and members of the Society for Art of Imagination,

After the brilliant success of the Canadian Society for Art of Imagination, I would like to introduce Liba Stambollion who is already well-known as an Artist and Book Creator and fabulous Exhibitions Organizer.

She has kindly agreed to be our leader for the European Society for Art of Imagination, and already has ideas for our next Shows in Europe!

So a warm welcome to Liba!

Brigid Marlin

Liba will now be writing about her plans:

I am honored to have the trust of Brigid Marlin and company to turn this new page in the AOI story.  This marriage between Dreams and Divinities and AOI will allow us to merge resources, opportunities and platforms.

Founder of the Visionary Art Community, artist Otto Rapp along with visionary artist and poet Bruce Rimell will work in the team to bring fantastic shows to Europe.

Many of the artist members of AOI are already exhibiting through Dreams and Divinity Shows. AOI tends to favor individual platforms for artists, offering artist pages as vitrines for artwork. Dreams and Divinities pushes for artist collaborations with books showcasing the unified effort of the community. Both organizations bring resources and the community together to promote the fantastic, surrealist and visionary arts. This merger is a logical and complimentary marriage of our two organizations.

The first show we plan to put on in Europe will be launched in Paris late 2015. Submission calls and promotional material will be networked through the ‘Dreams and Divinities-AOI Europe’ site, the main AOI site and the Visionary Art Exhibition site. Keep your eyes peeled for details in late 2014- early 2015 for submission calls.

Please keep in mind that to participate in an AOI show you do need to be a member.

You can find details here: http://artofimagination.org/join/

You do not need to be a member to participate in Dreams and Divinities projects but our projects are full until 2017.

The Art of the Imagination has been promoting fantastic, visionary and surrealist art since 1961.

With your help we are able:

– to send Gabriela back to San Cristobal to break down the show in April. This was the top priority.

– pay for the musician Axel LeCourt’s airplane ticket

– pay half of Gabriela’s and Liba’s tickets and half of Martina Hoffman’s ticket who just had major damage on her house due to flooding.

-pay for the offerings for the Fire Ceremony

-Vincent Gallet did a personal fundraiser and raised enough to pay for his ticket.

– Elisabeth Slettnes did a personal fundraiser and made enough for transport of her piece.

-Artists who sold big and medium pieces will have their transport to the next venue or back home paid partially, one way or both ways paid.

-Artist Hector Pineda of Pandora’s Box Gallery printed our posters, pamphlets and large sized stickers for the posts around the plaza.

-Artist and graphist Fabian Jiminez pritned our large vinyl banners for in front of the town hall and museum.

However we did not make the money for general transport of paintings, neither for help with accommodations for artists and performers so unfortunately a few artists had to withdraw from both the show and the voyage.

But we do have lots of amazing artists, concerts, presentations, blessings coming up and we thank you dearly for helping make that happen!

I want to thank our two sponsors who financially contributed to this campaign:

The 2013 Dreams & Divinities Travelling Show

November 18th, 2013
Share Button

The 2013 Dreams & Divinities Travelling Show just completed an Equinox to Equinox odyssey through Andalucia and into Paris. The exhibit consisted of fifty five artists from the book ‘Divining the Dream’and three guest artists. There were ninety-four pieces of art in total. Poets, performers, musicians and digital artists offered performances at the various events, engaging the public in a multi-sensorial experience.

How it all came together

Liba WS was offered by Yamal Din, the head of the Spanish Fiarte, some magnificent noncommercial places – a museum, town hall, a historical church and cultural center- to exhibit a selection of artists and create events. Then Jean Michel Gassend of La Porte Soleil along with the Société des Poétes Français offered to host parts of the show in Paris. Lots of wonderful opportunities but no one had money. Spain was broke and funding for the arts had been cut. Liba had a book and a network but also no funding. So the community just came together and it happened. Artwork started arriving… Performers and Video Jockeys, musicians, poets and artists flew into the beautiful places and exchanged and offered their skills as a gift to each other and to the public. The artists helped hang the shows, network it, transport it. (in part) Transport, printing and logistical costs were pretty much covered by book sales, donations and one paid event. The result was we made it happen and the exhibits and most events remained free for everyone to enjoy.
